A Truer North
The Companion Stories
Stories from a world that paid the price, lost its middle, and built something better in the far north.
A Truer North: The Companion Stories are a series of short works of near-future science fiction. They are humane, character-first, and quietly hopeful. They're set in a post-climate-change world that paid a catastrophic price and then, on the far side of that loss, built something genuinely better: a fairer, kinder society in the cooler northern latitudes, watched over by a benevolent overseer intelligence that places each person in the life where they'll be most fulfilled. These are not stories of collapse. They're intimate portraits of people learning to live inside a world that has finally been gotten right and discovering that even a world without scarcity or injustice can't solve the last human problem: how to feel at home in your own life.
Together these stories are an on-ramp into the world of a forthcoming fiction series.
