A series of photographic works exploring lonely and forgotten places in the American West
Black-and-white photographs of the lost American West — abandoned homesteads, ghost-town buildings, mining camps, and the heavy things left behind inside them. These are the places most people pass at seventy miles an hour without a second look: a farmhouse in a field that stopped being a home half a century ago and hasn't fallen down anyway, a stove someone hauled out by wagon and never came back for, a roadhouse open to the sky. The Slightly Moody Creative stops, gets out, and spends time with them. Shot across Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and the eastern Sierra — the Great Basin and the country around it — and made in black and white, because these images are about texture, light, and the weight of time, and color would only get in the way. The buildings are stubborn. They're still standing. That's the point.
